Magazines and Piroulines: Coming full circle

When I started this blog, I named it for my two ambitions in life—magazines, the industry I planned to work in, and piroulines, an edible symbol of my hope to connect food back to my line of work. And through Magazines and Piroulines, I'd share some words on my food adventures whenever I'd feel like it.

The last time I was blogging semi-actively, however (let’s be honest, I don’t keep up with this thing regularly at all, as it’s primarily an outlet for personal reflection and expression), I was pursuing neither of those things. Replace magazine with burgeoning digital news outlet, and food with social media/tech, and you’d have a more accurate fit.

But I was certainly living out a new adventure nonetheless. Just living in a new city—and New York City, at that—meant endless opportunities for food discoveries. By the end of that summer, I was convinced my life path wouldn’t lead me to a career in magazines. Nor did that worry me. I foresaw myself working in the digital sphere, but a job opportunity came a’knockin’ (web editor for a magazine group—perfect, huh?), and now things have come full circle.

As a web editor for a handful of lifestyle magazines in South Florida, I have the luxury of eating my way through the newest restaurants in Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach—a luxury I don’t spend one day feeling ungrateful for.

So, a blog about food and magazines. Sounds about right to me.

This blog is all about my food adventures—which have taken me to Israel, Italy and all around NYC—but most of them happen right here at home in South Florida, my favorite place to discover a new market, hole-in-the-wall or high-end eatery.
